About Planning Department
The Planning is one of those core departments in the Ministry of Planning, Development and Intl. Coop. It works closely with State and sub-state level institutions and international partners and coordinates State development programs. The main mandate of the department includes Policy development and implementation regarding the planning and economic development of SSC-KH, proposing all relevant policies and regulations concerning the Ministry mandate, Strengthening the coordination with International Donors and International Organizations, Coordination and Standardization of all development programs and projects in the SSC-Khatumo State, Implementing and coordinating National development plans, Prepare Ministry’s Strategic Plan once every five years.

Main Objectives
- Lead and coordinate the national development plan (NDP), planning processes and NDP implementation.
- Work with line ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and development partners in aligning sectors and development plans to government NDP priorities.
- Lead and coordinate Sectoral planning and aligning it to National Development Plan
- Conduct research on development and sector policy issues for evidence-based planning.
- Support local capacity development for national planning, and in particular, provide support and guidance to the national and local bodies responsible for the decentralized planning processes.
- Conducti Sectoral assessment of NDP9 Pillars.
- Organize and undertake sensitization workshops, seminars, conferences and discussions for increasing NDP institutional understanding and public awareness.
- Facilitate and support that comprehensive development plans and programmes are effectively carried out through integration and coordination of planning and development activities at national and sub-national levels to avoid potential duplications.
